Michael Kelly, M.D., is a nephrologist with Minor & James Medical, PLLC, and is a member of Swedish's Ethics Committee who does ethics consults at Swedish Medical Center/First Hill Campus.

Dr. Kelly has been on staff at Swedish since 1975. In that time, he has served in a number of positions, including chief of staff and chair of the Ethics Committee. He is currently on the Swedish Board of Trustees and a member of the Ethics Committee.

Dr. Kelly is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine. He specializes in fluid balance, with a clinical interest in renal (kidney) transplantation, hypertension and kidney dialysis. He also provides ethics consults at Swedish/First Hill.

He is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Washington (U.W.) School of Medicine, where he has taught since 1975.

A graduate of Loyola University in Los Angeles, Dr. Kelly received his medical degree from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Neb. His internship and residency were done at the University of California at Irvine, and his fellowship in nephrology was done at the U.W. School of Medicine.

Among his many affiliations, Dr. Kelly is past president of the Northwest Renal Society and is on the boards of the Northwest Kidney Center and the Northwest Kidney Foundation. He is also active in the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians and the North Pacific Society of Internal Medicine.
