EDMONDS, WASH., June 14, 2013 — Fulfilling a promise to the community to make significant investments in advanced medical services and technology, today Swedish/Edmonds announced plans for a $63.5 million expansion at the existing hospital campus. Construction of a two-story, 77,000-square-foot facility will feature a new emergency department (ED) with a dedicated behavioral health unit and urgent care center. It will also include a new outpatient diagnostic imaging center, observation unit, front entry, and parking garage. The building’s second floor will be reserved for future expansion of hospital services.  Construction is expected to begin in spring 2014, with completion of the ED and urgent care center in the fall of 2015.

SEATTLE, June 6, 2013 – Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) announced today that Saul Rivkin, M.D., medical oncologist, as well as founder and board chair of the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, will retire from his clinical practice at SCI on July 1, 2013. The highly respected and revered physician, who is 77 years old and has five daughters and seven grandchildren, Dr. Rivkin is best known for his committed, tenacious approach to fighting cancer and the personal connection he has established with the thousands of patients he has cared for over the years.

EDMONDS, WASH., March 21, 2013 – Swedish Health Services will open a new outpatient cancer center at the Edmonds campus on Monday, April 1, 2013 in response to the growing need for medical oncology and infusion (chemotherapy) services in the south Snohomish and north King County area. The new two-story, 17,102-square-foot facility is anticipated to handle as many as 175 patient visits each day and provide increased access to cancer-care services for people living north of Seattle.
