Rayburn Lewis, M.D.
Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Cherry Hill
Rayburn Lewis, M.D., board-certified internal medicine physician, has been a member of Swedish's medical staff since 1984 and serves as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Swedish/Cherry Hill.
He was medical director for Providence Seattle Medical Center from 1995 to 2002, and was Swedish's vice president for medical affairs from 2002 to 2007. He also served as medical director of the Mother Joseph Clinic at Swedish/Cherry Hill, which provided specialty physician services to uninsured and underinsured patients. Dr. Lewis practiced with the Minor & James Medical Group from 1987 to 1996, and maintained a small but active practice at the Swedish Family Medicine/Cherry Hill Campus residency clinic until 2008.
From 2008, Dr. Lewis served as executive director for the Ballard campus, culminating in significantly improved financial performance.
He did his medical school and residency at the U.W. School of Medicine. Dr. Lewis achieved management certification through the VHA Physician Leadership Program (College of William and Mary).
Dr. Lewis is a member of the King County Medical Society, the American College of Physician Executives, a past trustee of both the Washington State Medical Association and the Puget Sound Blood Center Board of Trustees and current president of the Washington State Association of Black Professionals in Health Care. He has been active in youth fitness for more than 25 years, including involvement with Seattle Urban 4H, the Cascade Bicycle Club Major Taylor Project (youth cycling), and served as a volunteer physician for the Franklin High School sports program.
