Sports Medicine
Sports medicine is an important part of the comprehensive orthopedic program at the Swedish Orthopedic Institute. In fact, players from three of Seattle’s professional athletic teams — baseball, football and basketball — receive care from orthopedic doctors at Swedish.
Specialists in sports medicine treat a wide range of conditions and problems, including acute injuries (or those that happen suddenly), such as the dislocation of a joint, ligament tears and joint sprains. They also care for patients who have overuse injuries (or those that develop gradually), such as carpal tunnel, stress fractures, muscle strains and tendonitis.
Treatments range from casts, physical therapy and rehabilitation to arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries.
