Clinical Interests
Full spectrum family medicine. Women's health, especially reproductive health care, birth control, and obstetrics. Adolescent health. Preventive health care.
Philosophy of Care
I love family medicine because of the wide spectrum of care. I enjoy being able to take care of both men and women and every generation in the same family. I also believe in taking care of "the entire patient." That means addressing all medical conditions from pregnancy to high blood pressure, as well as the psychological, and social issues that are a part of each patients identity and health. Most importantly I believe in preventative health care and all the things we can do together to help keep you healthy!
Personal Interests
I enjoy being outdoors and participating in a wide variety of activities including hiking, camping, skiing, running, biking, and playing soccer. I also love exploring Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Walking around Seattle's various neighborhoods, doing a little people watching and taking in the mountain views never gets old. When I'm not outside I enjoy cooking, trying new restaurants, and making dinner with fresh vegetables from our garden.

Clinical Interests
I love teaching, providing Family Oriented Maternity Care—yes, I deliver babies!—and Family Oriented Palliative Care, having been a volunteer medical director of a 2 bed “hospice house” for 7 years. I perform minor procedures like skin biopsy, joint injections, IUD placement, ingrown toenail care, circumcision. I enjoy caring for families in all ways.
Languages spoken:
I speak and understand Spanish fairly well.
Philosophy of Care
I chose to be a family physician committed to caring for the underserved in 1984 as a sophomore in college when I studied Introduction to Community Medicine and Health & Society. There I first learned about the origins of the specialty, of Neighborhood (now called Community) Health Centers, of primary care and the Biopsychosocial Model of health and illness. I believe in caring for people in the context of their family. I support the definition of family as any group of people related biologically, legally or emotionally.
Personal Interests
I was born and raised in Upstate New York, the youngest of 7 kids. I am happily married to another family physician and together we raise our 3 sons. I value lessons learned from my catholic upbringing and my current Quaker faith tradition. I love to play tennis and to commute to work via bike and bus.
