Day of Surgery
Arrive on time on the day of your surgery. Please present to the Patient Registration desk on the first floor of the hospital. This is on the left side of the main lobby next to the pharmacy.
Please bring a list of your current medications with you to the hospital. It is not necessary for you to bring all of your medications with you. However, you may take your heart medication with sips of water on the day of surgery unless otherwise instructed by your surgeon or the pre-admission team.
If you are a diabetic, do not take your morning diabetic medication or insulin unless instructed to do so.
Most, if not all, of your regular medications will be restarted as soon as possible after your surgery.
Personal Care Products and Personal Items
Do not use personal care products such as hairspray, perfume, gels, aftershave, facial creams, oils, lotions or hair conditioner. Do not wear contact lenses or makeup.
We encourage you to bring personal items that will make you more comfortable during your hospital stay, such as your personal pillow, a robe, or a pair of comfortable slippers. Please leave all valuables at home.
Family Waiting Area
Family members are asked to register at the Surgery Information Desk on the right side of the main hospital lobby. Your family will be provided with a beeper that will allow them to wander away from the lobby area if necessary. There are also family waiting rooms available on a first come first served basis.
Your surgeon will arrive to speak with your family after your operation is over. The Surgery Information desk is staffed by hospital employees. There will be someone available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. They can be reached directly at (206) 386-2150.
