Swedish Organ Climb – Streamed live

On Wednesday, September 1, Swedish’s organ transplant surgeons and doctors will attempt to host the hospital’s first ever live social media web stream from Mount Rainier to help the general public better understand the implications of an organ donation and to highlight and promote the importance of an organ donation.  The stream (available on this web page) will start at 5:00 PM on September 1st and conclude at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time).

Why?

At this very moment more than 108,000 people are waitlisted to receive an organ transplant in the United States.  This goes without saying that the need for registered donors is vast.  So, this year a team of Swedish organ transplant surgeons has thought up a way to bring their annual Mount Rainier organ donor awareness climb to the public. How? With a social media backpack.

Swedish hospital and its doctors brought together state-of-the-art solar and satellite technology into a single backpack that will allow the surgeons to attempt to stream from Mount Rainier.
