A minor cut or scratch poses little problem for most of us. But for some five million Americans who do not have the ability to heal properly because of poor blood circulation from diabetes, peripheral vascular disease or problems with their veins, a simple sore or cut can result in serious infections, gangrene or even amputation.
Ninety-six percent of the chronic wounds we see heal within 16 weeks. That is 20 days faster than the national average when compared against 600 other wound healing centers according to a March 2008 study of non-HBO healing methods.
The focus at the Swedish/Edmonds Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbarics is on preserving limbs and healing difficult wounds through a comprehensive, team approach. There will be no long delays before you get a referral to another specialist because they all work closely together to provide you with comprehensive care.
In 2008, the center added the first computer-controlled hyperbaric oxygen chambers in Washington state to quicken the healing process for certain conditions.
The center helps heal chronic wounds faster by treating the cause of the wound and applying evidence-based medical and surgical techniques that are outcome-focused and cost-effective.
We use the latest approved devices and dressings to promote healing and teach patients and tfamily or caregivers how to care for wounds at home to further improve faster and more permanent healing.
