Being a true caring person by nature, I believe birth work is part of my journey to provide meaningful care and support to my community. Pregnancy and birth is a transformational moment in people’s lives, a time when mind and body change dramatically. As a birth worker, I help families cope with the emotions, uncertainty, and loneliness that come with these changes. Because I am observant of individual home dynamics, I can be there to provide hands-on support and help to leave positive memories on people’s lives during this precious time. In addition to attending births and providing postpartum support to communities in Washington State, I have a strong interest in assisting communities without local familial support. I understand the importance of having support when your support network is so far away. I have always been curious about the influence of human dynamics on families. Originally from Minas Gerais, Brazil, I have lived in many places with very distinct cultural dynamics, including Denmark, Ireland, and now the USA. This experience helped to shape my abilities to observe and respect the way people live in their natural surroundings. I majored in Human Ecology at the Federal University of Viçosa and am passionate about this field. I built my professional foundation on this fascinating study of humanity, which I brought into my years of experience working with a variety of wonderful families, from newborns and new families to teenagers and families with multiples.
