My provider is doing a good job. She is young and was initially prickly about that when I first consulted her upon being discharged from the hospital with an extremely rare and life-threatening condition, and after being "treated" by the chief of nephrology on my final day in the hospital before my discharge. I found him extremely egotistical and had no interest in working with him, so chose Dr. Barkan based on her Healthgrade and similar scores by existing patients. She's clearly very sharp and level-headed. She can seem a bit threatened by an intelligent patient with complex conditions who knows a fair bit about their own medical needs, but we've found a good working balance in the last several months, and I expect my condition will likely take several more months or up to a couple of years to resolve, and in the meantime it requires frequent labs and occasional treatment adjustments, so I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Barkan until this condition resolves. Because this condition is life-threatening, I stay in closer contact with Dr. Barkan than with any other of my providers at the moment.
