About Midori Higashi
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Midori Higashi graduated at the top of her class at Western University College of Podiatric Medicine, and then completed an additional three years of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery residency training at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Her interests include reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive surgery, total ankle implants, trauma and bunion surgery.
She is active in the nationally-ranked Podiatric Residency Program at Swedish Medical Center, being voted as "Teacher of the Year Award” in 2022 and receiving the Resident Lecture award in 2017 and 2018. She is invited regularly to speak at local and national professional meetings, such as the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association and the International Foot and Ankle Foundation.
Dr. Higashi spent her early years as a competitive figure skater. In addition to skating, she also did extensive dance training in ballet, tap, and jazz. She sustained many injuries over the years. She understands the aches and pains of being an athlete, and how important it is to return to a desired sport or hobby.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son. A self-proclaimed “foodie”, she loves cooking and trying new cuisine.
“I try my best to fully understand my patients’ foot and/ or ankle problems. We can then work together as a team to come up with the best treatment plan to fit their individual needs.”

My overall experience with Dr. Higashi was good. I do believe that doctors need to listen to their patients a little bit more. I have a allergy to nickel, and when the rash started breaking out on my leg because of the hardware that was put in me had trace some out of nickels in it When I brought it to Dr. Higashi's attention, it was kind of dismissed as a follicle rash when I knew for certain it was not a follicle rash it took a week of my leg, getting worse and worse before somebody started paying attention to it once again overall, Dr. Higashi was a great surgeon and a great doctorI just wish she would listen more to the patient and their concerns but overall she was fantastic.

Getting an appointment was difficult as Dr Higashi is extremely busy. I was lucky and gained an appointment as my concern for my big toe being infected. Dr Higashi removed my toenail, provided information on how I needed to treat the area and made a follow up appointment that is much appreciated. She filled out a form that listed what kind of shoes and arch supports would help my problem and where I could find them. This was very helpful for me. I am now in the process of getting my arches in the position they should be instead of being flat. This is a process but is getting much better day by day. I really had a helpful and pleasant appointment.

The provider was excellent. However, it took over a month to be seen, and by that time my foot problem was not so obvious. Still, the provider was able to help me understand the issue and how to follow up with corrective actions. Also, importantly, she found an area of bone inflammation on a plain foot x-ray that the radiologist previously had completely missed (The x-ray had been resulted as "negative").
