Heart Screening
Swedish has dedicated Cardiovascular Diagnostic Imaging Centers staffed with expert doctors, nurses and technicians trained in the latest diagnostic imaging technologies. The centers provide a comfortable, caring environment for patients.
Cardiovascular disease can be complex, and that’s why we offer a full complement of imaging, monitoring, stress tests and other diagnostics to pinpoint a specific cardiac or vascular problem.
Diagnostic Screening Services
- Coronary CT Angiography
High-speed computed tomography (CT) scanners are used to evaluate a patient with chest pain, anginal equivalent or angina, or to clarify an uncertain nuclear imaging stress test. - Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram uses ultrasound (sound waves) to take pictures of your heart. These pictures can be seen on a monitor and recorded, allowing your doctor to see how well your heart is working. - Electrocardiogram (EKG)
An electrocardiogram is a test to measure the electrical activity in your heart. Sometimes this test is referred to as an EKG or ECG. - Coronary Calcium Scan
A cardiac CT scan for coronary calcium is a non-invasive way of obtaining information about the presence, location and extent of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. - Holter Monitors & Event Recorders
Generally used for patients who may experience symptoms of abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmia), these small, portable devices record your heart’s electrical activity to show changes in your heart rhythm throughout the day. - Exercise Stress Test
An exercise stress test shows how your heart works while you are physically active. By exercising on either a treadmill or a stationary bike, your heart activity is tracked to allow your doctor to see changes in your heart rate. - Nuclear Imaging Tests
This test shows your doctor the blood supply to your heart and how well your heart works. For the test, a small amount of radioactive material (tracer) is injected into a vein and traced through your bloodstream to your heart muscle. A special camera that can see the tracer is then used to take pictures of your heart. - Vascular Imaging
Vascular imaging is a test that uses ultrasound to listen to and evaluate the blood flow, blood pressure, circulation and level of oxygen in the blood in your veins and arteries to produce a picture of the inside of your veins and arteries.
