Pain Services
At Swedish Pain Services, we use a team approach to better understand the factors contributing to your chronic pain. Our goal is to help you better understand and manage your pain by using medication and nonmedication approaches. Our experts will work closely with your primary care physician to develop a treatment plan that typically includes both drug and non-drug therapies. In about 30% of cases, we can provide a suggested treatment plan after just one visit. After about four to five visits, you’ll be referred back to your primary care provider.
The Swedish STOMP program is intended to be a resource for those of you facing the limitations of the medical system in dealing with your complex chronic pain needs. The choice is clear. You have to learn to take charge of your own care. Each chapter in the STOMP Paint Management Guide addresses a topic that affects the perception of pain.
The Pain Research Department is part of the Clinical Research Division of Swedish and works in association with Swedish Pain Services. The Pain Research Department provides support and assistance—such as clinical coordination, data management and regulatory support—to all Swedish-affiliated investigators conducting pain and side-effect research.
Our philosophy is to ensure that Swedish continues to offer the best possible care by pursuing new innovations in pain management and making investigational pain therapies available to patients.
The department's research nurses are experienced in pain management, oncology, HIV, home health/hospice, infusion and palliative care. They have more than eight years of experience in the management of research protocols sponsored by the federal government (National Institutes of Health), pharmaceutical and device companies regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and other funding sources.
