Education

Swedish Research Center (SRC) policy requires researchers (investigators, sub-investigators, research staff, study coordinators, and other key study personnel) to be adequately trained in human subjects protection before conducting human subjects research at Swedish. To that end, documentation of completed human subject protection training is a requirement before research can be conducted at Swedish. Additionally, training must be obtained at least once every three years.

Swedish utilizes an internet-based course (CITI) administered by the University of Miami to facilitate human subject protection training. The course can be accessed via the internet at www.citiprogram.org. When registering for the course, please designate Swedish Medical Center as an institutional affiliation so that the Swedish Research Center will receive notice of your training completion.

Swedish also honors most human subjects protection training completed at the University of Washington, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and other local institutions. Other training may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
