Our Approach

At Providence Swedish Orthopedics, we specialize in a full range of orthopedic surgical care – including hand, knee, hip and shoulder conditions – and treatment of musculoskeletal tumors. Our team is committed to helping you ease joint pain, recover from injury, return to the activities you love, and enjoy improved mobility.

You should speak with an orthopedic provider if you experience any or all of the following:

  • Constant or ongoing joint pain and musculoskeletal pain
  • Decreased mobility
  • Difficulty sitting up and down or going up stairs
  • Discomfort after active sports and hobbies
  • Joint pain during certain types of weather
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Past bone injury
  • Stiffness after sleeping or sitting

Orthopedic surgery

Not all orthopedic conditions require surgery, but sometimes surgery is the best long-term approach to alleviate pain, restore function and improve quality of life. Our orthopedic and sports medicine surgeons specialize in complex surgeries that treat joint, bone, tendon, ligament and muscle injuries.

Often, we are able to use minimally invasive techniques to repair damage through a small incision. This means that you could experience less pain during recovery and a shorter recovery time. Many of our patients are able to walk the day of surgery and start their rehabilitation activities sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, it’s helpful to obtain a referral from your primary care provider before scheduling your first appointment with us.

Once your surgery is scheduled, we provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions. Depending on your surgery, these instructions might include directives for medical evaluations, fasting, stopping certain medications or arranging for post-surgery care and transportation.

Our orthopedic team consists of board-certified surgeons who are highly trained and experienced in surgically repairing musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

You’ll receive thorough follow-up care throughout your recovery journey. Expect an initial post-operative visit within the first week to check the surgical site.

Then, many patients have additional follow-up appointments at six weeks, twelve weeks, and a year after surgery to ensure full recovery and functional improvements. Timing and frequency could vary depending on the type of procedure and individual patient needs.

During these visits, you’ll have ample opportunity to discuss any remaining concerns with your doctor.
