Swedish campuses awarded 'A' hospital safety grade
The distinction recognizes Providence Swedish's commitment to patient safety across our Puget Sound hospitals.
SEATTLE, Nov. 17, 2024 – Providence Swedish's First Hill, Ballard and Issaquah campuses each received 'A' grades in the fall 2024 hospital safety survey from The Leapfrog Group. All five legacy Swedish campuses, including Cherry Hill and Edmonds, increased by a letter grade.
Leapfrog announces grades twice annually. Updated this month, Leapfrog assigned ratings to some 3,000 acute care hospitals in the United States based on safety performance, their ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
The Leapfrog grading system is based on peer-reviewed data and more than 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency that administers the nation's major healthcare programs including Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
"This week, three of our Swedish hospital campuses across Central Puget Sound: First Hill, Ballard and Issaquah were recognized with grades of 'A' in the biannual Leapfrog Patient Safety Survey," said Elizabeth Wako, M.D., chief executive for Swedish Health Services.
